About Us  Facts The Sprachakademie Karlsruhe lies in the center of the city and is easy to get to with public transportation. We  have six classrooms with a total area of 350 qm.  The Sprachakademie Karlsruhe has been in existence since 2005 and offers integration and German courses  that follow the European Framework of Reference for the A1 to C1 levels. Following the integration course is an  orientation course where students go through the basics of German history, politics and culture. Additionally, we  have telc-Prüferlizenz (telc licensed examiners and raters) and offer language exams two times per month. Due  to the strong request of our students, we also offer a TestDaF (Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache - Test of German  as a Foreign Language) preparation course since 2007.  Company Philosohpy  The basis of any successful learning experience lies in the subject-specific and methodical skills of the teacher.  Therefore, all of our teachers have years of experience, are motivated and regularly further their own education.   Along with the personal motivation of the learner, there is another factor for successful study: the joy of learning!!!   We put great value on having a friendly, relaxing atmosphere that enables our students to have fun while learning  and to feel comfortable in the Sprachakademie. The involvement of our teachers enhances this atmosphere by  personally and individually being concerned with the learning progress and the respective development of our  students. Starting with the very first meeting, the guidance given to our customers is detailed and competent. Everyone  who studies needs the feeling of success. Thus, it is important to us that our students know where they stand  through completing regular intermediate tests. The results of these tests show how effectively they have learned.   Our Learning Method Beginner Level A1 - B1  The starting point for any student in these courses is always an everyday situation, which can stem from the  experiences and living environment of the students (family, shopping, job, free time, hobbies, etc.). In this way,  the student is motivated to become involved in the course content, directly benefiting their own life in Germany.   Grammatical structures and vocabulary will be taken from such situations, put into graphic illustrations and  converted into scenes in order to gain deeper knowledge. Grammar and vocabulary are necessary in order to  manage specific situations, both linguistically and socially. Grammatical structures will be covered, deepened and solidified through a written and oral development phase.  We follow a spiral curriculum, which means that already acquired linguistic structures will be repeated and  expanded in regular intervals. Through the view of cognitive research and the psychology of learning, these  teaching methods are essential since a large portion of learning requires repetition.  We see our students not as passive customers. Our goal is to keep students active and motivated, to collect their  own linguistic experiences inside and outside the language courses and, through having a positive attitude, to  grow in their own linguistic competence.   Intermediate Level B2 and Advanced Level C1 The teaching method expands at this level of language. An increased amount of film scenes, television news,  journal articles and newspapers will be used as learning material. Since most students at this course level want  to improve their German for their jobs or studies, adjustments can be made accordingly to widen linguistic  competence. Nevertheless, the linguistic basics (verb position, sentence structure, participles) will be regularly  repeated and deepened until all students reach a high degree of comfort and confidence in company with the  German language. Students are tasked with giving small oral presentations in order to individually work and  present complex topics. Shorter and longer texts will also be regularly written. The teacher will analyze the texts  and provide feedback to all students. We put great value on the development of vocabulary. Synonyms and  phrases will be acquired in both colloquial, as well as in standard use.   TestDaF - Examination Preparation The TestDaF examination requires a language level of B2 - C1. In our preparation course, strategies will be  developed and made transparent. In this way, the students can successfully and confidently complete the  TestDaF examination. The specific requirements of the four Subtests (Reading Comprehension, Listening Comprehension, Written  Examination, and Oral Expression) will be systematically prepared and practiced through model exams. The  focus of this preparation course lies in imparting the foundation of academic vocabulary and preparing for the  level of the TestDaF examination, as well as university studies.  For the oral expression section, students will be made comfortable in the situation where communication is  without a conversation partner. The examinee is given the task of responding to an acoustic speech impulse and  answering into a recorder.  Through our training, the examination candidate can adjust and become comfortable with the time constraints of  the exam. In our preparation courses, we use training material that is recommend by the TestDaF Institute and complies  with the language level of the TestDaF examination.
